Being a Foster Parent has been such an amazing blessing for me. The system is hard. It has its flaws. Sometimes kids don’t stay and it’s painful – for everyone.Lucky for us, the Lord is FOR orphans and those who care for them…..He has prepared, protected, and blessed us even in the hardest of times.
A regular blessing in our lives is that we get to see Kate & Krys about every 6 months. They are so special to us.
You’ll have to go back to JUNE 2008 here on the blog to see the posts when we they came to live with us. Kate stayed 2 months and Krys 9 months – they have both been adopted into a most wonderfully loving and fantastic home.
We met up with them a few weeks back and had dinner.
Krys is still the same comical girl. When they first arrived at our house there were 10 people here (friends were still living with us). She walked straight up me upon hearing we had people living with us and said, “What happened to their house and why aren’t they living in it?” I just started laughing. She doesn’t beat around the bush, this one.
I think X is saying here, “Uhh…you got a little something on your face…”
X’s hair was straight and smoothe before we sat outside for dinner. Humidity is not her friend.
You can see….the hair made it’s way into a bun.
Let’s clarify the ages here for everyone: E is 6.5, Kate is 11, Krys is 9, X is 11.5
X is tall but not a giant as it looks in this picture.
On our way home with all the kids we saw a deer in our neighborhood. We stopped so everyone could talk to it.
Then the kids played a while the adults visited. X braided everyone’s hair.
And they played one another’s tablets.
Goodbyes are always sad for the kids. They still see one another as brother and sisters.
Such a beautiful girl.
Some things never change….
